Multicriteria dynamic optimization of an emulsion copolymerization reactor
The paper presents a bench scale demonstration of the development and experimental implementation of a multiobjective optimization strategy. The objective is to tailor, at the nanoscale, the morphology as well as the end-use properties of the latex particles. A multicriteria decision aiding strategy was implemented to select the best feeding profile from the Pareto set. The strategy was developed to solve a problem initially raised by Rhodia for the paint industry. The optimization approach as well as the code developed during the course of this work are currently used to optimize a water treatment station in Marseille, France.
