Additional information

Research into a new method for measuring the distribution of bi-polar electrostatic charges on particles, which are important to particle behaviour in pharmaceutical processing (eg particle sieving, coating, segregation, mixing) but not previously measurable by customary methods. The work is likely to have significant impact on industry as it will enable these bipolar charges to be studied so that processes involving charge (both intentionally and unintentionally) can be optimized. 2 Follow on projects have so far been funded by industry (GSK) to use the novel technique to research the properties of their materials, discussions in progress re: commercialisation.
