Aeroelastic dynamic response and control of an airfoil section with control surface nonlinearities
This paper resulted from an EC funded FP7 research project “Smart high lift devices for next generation wings (SADE)”, which involved 13 partners including EADS, Airbus, DLR, FOI and TsAGI. The morphing mechanism and modelling developed provide a practical and effective design to improve the aerodynamic performance of the whole wing, especially in take-off and landing. The research has led to evaluation at EADS/Airbus/DLR, assisting further development of morphing wing technology in the next EC framework CleanSky-2.
