Double-weighted statement

Remembering Boethius proposes a complex thesis about the medieval reception history of Boethius' Consolation of Philosophy and its role in mediating late-medieval experiences of exile and imprisonment that demanded analysis of a considerable body of material in French and English. Together with the substantial bibliography of secondary criticism associated with each of the four authors treated here, the book also demanded attention to the large body of work on medieval translation theory, and on memory, as well as to the extensive body of criticism and primary source materials associated with the Consolation and its medieval transmission history
