Significance of output:

This article has redefined international research and clinical practice standards for APD. It is the direct culmination of the British Society of Audiology Special Interest Group’s (BSA SIG) publication of two key peer-reviewed, evidence-based documents (‘Position Statement’ and ‘Management Guidance Document’, BSA, 2011). In formulating these documents, it became evident that significant differences were developing between the BSA SIG and the American Academy of Audiology’s interpretation of the evidence. To address this, and borrowing from British Parliamentary procedure, the BSA SIG published this ‘white paper ’ with its international set of commentaries, which has consolidated focussed international research collaboration.
