Double-weighted statement

This book employs an audience/reception studies approach and is organized around seven case studies of audiences’ responses to Jet Li films and his star image. It deals with a wide range of critical concepts; primary sources are extensive, complex, and some are difficult to access. Audience responses are collected from critical reviews and fan discussions, and both Chinese-language and English-language sources, via print media, the Web and personal interviews. It took four years to collect the primary data from UK, Hong Kong and Mainland China including conducting individual interviews, visiting different libraries and gathering journal articles published 30 years ago.
