Double-weighted statement

This was the first book to lay the intellectual foundations for a fundamental rethinking of the “ecological Indian” idea and mapped its interconnections with American religious thought since contact. The collection and analysis of data was substantial and spanned multiple disciplines including the sciences. For the first time, Indian spiritual approaches were used to reframe environmental thinking of the past and present in an intellectually and conceptually generative fashion. The time spent researching and writing this intentionally boundary-crossing book was substantially longer than that normally required to produce two items.
