Double-weighted statement

This work revealed a wholly new body of archives to multiple audiences. It used them to establish a fresh interpretative approach to American associationalism and to fundamentally re-orientate thinking on performance as an interpretative paradigm. Data collection spanned two continents, involved eighteen archival sites and incorporated a series of field interviews. It was multiply externally supported and included a prolonged period of funded residential work with a European research group as well as extensive North American research travel. The research and writing time spent was thus appreciably longer than that normally required to produce two items.
