Edward III

Edward III is the result of data-collection and development over thirty years, but specifically and intensively during 2007-10, when Ormrod worked full-time researching and writing this book. It covers a reign of fifty-one years and reconsiders a wide range of major topics fundamental to the historiography of the fourteenth century. Specifically, Ormrod has worked systematically through the very extensive records of the royal household and exchequer for the whole of this period in order to establish direct evidence of royal agency, and has used this empirical work to inform a major new assessment of Edward III”s contribution to his regime.
