Additional information

<13> In this paper we propose the first stochastic evolutionary model of how the distribution of chess players' ratings may have arisen, assuming these have been assigned using the well-known Elo system used by the World Chess Federation (FIDE) for over four decades. Our model could be used to investigate, through simulation, the effect of proposed changes to the FIDE rating system, and also to other games employing the Elo rating system.
