Additional information
This study reports for the first time on a simple ‘dip-and-dry’ method for converting inert biomaterials into bioactive materials for controlling undesirable tissue response after implantation. Schwann and human fibroblast cells responded with anti-inflammatory activity. This work underpins new approaches for converting existing implantable biomaterials, associated with detrimental tissue inflammation, into active materials for preventing inflammation. The work was featured as a front cover article of ‘BBSRC Business’ magazine (2011).
