Double-weighted statement

The School and institution advocate high quality teaching and learning, underpinned by excellence in research. Between these two demands, this work consumed a significant proportion of research time and opportunity. Significantly, this longitudinal study revealed the potential for change that exists in individual teachers’ practice, while also confirming their difficulty in challenging the status quo. Research into teacher’s practice, pupils experiences and the changes needed to unite the two are both time intensive and concentrated in the researcher, requiring extended commitment. The implications, disseminated internationally, give robustness to consequent changes in ITE provision, thus ensuring high quality teaching and learning.
