Additional information

The research reported in this paper is of great practical value to Victrex Japan (Masakazu Tanaka, Technical Manager, mtanaka@victrex.com), Victrex USA (Frank Ferfecki, Technical Leader, fferfecki@victrex.com) and Rod Kleiss (Head of Kleiss Gears, rodkleiss@kleissgears.com) in term of polymer design and application. The direct application of the research is a recent industrial collaboration with Helping Hand in UK (Gavin James, Managing Director, gavinjames@helpinghand.co.uk), i.e. using polymer gears in the Hoister Gearbox to replace steel gears for cost reduction. Significant progress has been made (nearly 85% endurance life has been achieved).
