Additional information

This paper reports the first model for energy saving by applying both cooperative MIMO and data aggregation technologies. Given the scale and power consumption (battery powered) of wireless sensor networks, the new model and related optimization algorithms provide the most realistic guidelines for the design and configuration of such highly popular network infrastructures. A grant (equivalent of £~25k) has been awarded by the Research Council of City Beijing to a proposal utilizing these results (Prof. Qiang Gao, gaoqiang@buaa.edu.cn).
