English abstract

This collection of essays examines the phenomenon of exile and its impact on identity across the Hispanic world during the twentieth century. It provides a critical overview of Hispanic exile(s), giving it a broader contextualization across a range of disciplines, including Spanish and Latin American Studies, but also Memory Studies, Cultural Studies, Sociology, Political Science, and Philosophy, to name just a few. From this platform, the essays included here explore diachronic, individual, and collective manifestations and representations of exile and they also examine how exile is related to other subthemes, such as absence, loss, silence, alienation, exodus, death, marginalization, repression.
