This double-blind peer reviewed paper describes a Pre-Concept Evaluation Tool (PRECET) for use in design and implementation of ubiquitous systems. This research was part of a two-year ESRC E-Society grant RES-341-25-0046 that investigated privacy and trust permissions with regard to ambient technology. The tool was also used in a New Dynamics of Ageing project to elicit older adults opinions on location-based services and tracking technologies. This work was voted best paper by the programme committee at the Symposium on Usable Privacy and Security (SOUPS), San Jose, USA, 2009 based on the in-depth methodology used.
