Additional information

The work was an original approach to automatic GIS-based generation of networks of surface flood flow paths, and was implemented in software. The paper was a key output from the EPSRC FRMRC Phase 1, and led to an enhanced role for Exeter in Phase II of this major consortium (total £7.3M). This work and software has been used in projects by other research groups in the UK (e.g. Sheffield, Imperial, Bristol; Prof Adrian Saul a.j.saul@sheffield.ac.uk). This approach has evidently influenced authors from China, Germany, Holland, Italy and Portugal (e.g. Prof Zoran Vojinovic, UNESCO-IHE, z.vojinovic@unesco-ihe.org).
