Additional information

This paper describes for the first time the effect of simulated laundering on the wash durability and bonding of the commercial DMDHEU easy care finish to cotton. The novel combination of surface and bulk analyses has elucidated the different types of fibre bonding and their effects on fabric crease recovery performance. This Tanzanian Gatsby Trust funded project has significantly improved the understanding of the impact of DMDHEU fibre crosslinking and the potential recycling problems of “first generation” cotton cellulose through fibre regeneration technology.
