First paper in Acta Materialia on Linear Friction Welding (LFW) and the first to report residual stress measurements in Ti linear friction welds using synchrotron diffraction (performed at ESRF). This work has resulted in an invited talk by Attallah on the Friction Joining of Titanium Alloys: 1st Joint Symposium on Welding and Joining, Osaka, Japan, November 2013.
