Additional information

With previous funding from EPSRC (GR/T22186/01), this technology has been extended to: (i) manufacture small-diameter (17-micrometer) optical fibres by one of the project partners (Schott: Contact Peter Haig, Sales Manager-UK: peter.haig@schott.com); (ii) co-weave the small-diameter optical fibres into E-glass fabrics by another project partner-PD Interglas Technologies. (Contact: John James, PD-Interglas Technologies. john.james@pd-group.com); and (iii) study in-situ fracture-detection of individual reinforcing fibres via a MoD fully-funded PhD studentship (Contact: Dr Garry Wells, DSTL).
