The output is 65,000 words in length plus 143 pages of notation, generating a particularly extensive concept - a new approach to Hip-Hop scholarship. The critical insight was dependent upon a lengthy period of data collection, resulting from 10 years research. A considerable body of material was collected/analysed from difficult to access primary sources, across turntablist communities in both the UK and US. It provides new frameworks to examine the musical product of hip-hop turntablism, and the creative process through which it was created as well as a new notation system for the analysis of hip hop turntable music.
