Additional information
A new, advanced theoretical model has been developed in collaboration with a leading French university and applied for the first time to explain the experimentally observed acoustic behaviour of porous media with continuous pore size stratification. Subsequently, this model has been used to develop a new method for the optimisation of pore size gradient to achieve unusually high acoustic absorption in a thin porous layer. These materials can be manufactured from recycled matter to reduce the amount of industrial waste and protect the environment from high levels of noise.
