Additional information

This collaborative work is serving as a basis for the next 10 years of investigations at one of the world's leading Plasma Institutes, Ruhr-Universität Bochum, Germany, and reports the discovery of stable glow plasmas at extremely high power densities. It is the first to discover self-organisation phenomena in metal plasmas driven in crossed E and B fields. It gives new insight to particle transport in plasmas. A wave of publications by other researchers has confirmed the phenomenon. It is likely to have impact on the design of magnetron sources used in the entire industry fuelling research and development projects.
