Additional information

An island management system that allows passive islanding transitions in the presence of variable wind power and energy storage is described. The research involved two PhD students (Best and Laverty), who were recently appointed lecturers at Queen's University of Belfast. Both are continuing the research on island detection, identification, fragmentation and grid reconnection; see (DOI:10.1109/TIM.2013.2240920). Research is also continuing at the University of Manchester funded by Electricity North West (contact details available).
