Paper summarizes the power electronics team’s contribution to Wave Dragon MW project, the largest EU FP6 funded marine renewable project. Researchers from Denmark, UK, Germany, Ireland and Poland undertook pioneering work to develop “Wave Dragon,” an overtopping wave energy converter in which the waves are running up a slope and are filling reservoir above the mean sea level; the potential energy of the water in the reservoir is exploited using multiple low head turbines. Project helped raising awareness of the importance of the marine renewables for the overall UK renewable 2020 strategy, also helped strong grow of marine renewable sector.
