Additional information

In this paper, a multi-pulse injection strategy for premixed charge compression ignition combustion was investigated in a four-valve, direct-injection diesel engine by a computational fluid dynamics simulation using KIVA-3V code coupled with detailed chemistry. The effects of fuel splitting proportion, injection timing, spray angles, and injection velocity were examined. The simulation results contribute to the optimization of injection strategies to achieve low NOx, Soot and CO2 emissions and low fuel consumption. Escuela Universitaria Politécnica (Spain) has applied some of those results for their research to develop a new diesel engine combustion system design.
