Chalcogenisation of Cu–Sb metallic precursors into Cu3Sb(SexS1−x)3
This paper reports EPSRC PV21 research on a new photovoltaic absorber material. It describes the synthesis and characterisation of photoactive Cu3Sb(S,Se)3 layers and use of S/Se ratio for bandgap engineering. It also presents the first functioning device structure based on these layers. This 2013 paper is a development of our earlier Cu-Sb-S materials libraries research that has stimulated research by other groups (Peccerillo et al. PVSAT-9_044). This work, together our research on CZTS and Cu-Bi-(S,Se), led to invited talks and a book chapter (including: SMEET 2011 – [http://www.iom3.org/conference-proceeding/sustainable-materials-emerging-energy-technologies?c=621], PVSAT-9 [Peter & Forbes, http://www.pvsat.org.uk/PVSAT-9_Proceedings-FINAL.pdf], Materials for a sustainable Future [ISBN: 978-1-84973-407-3]).
