This paper outlines a new concept in the generation of long lived sensitised green luminescence from Tb 3+ ions via a d-block chromophore. The generation of light in the visible region with a lifetime longer than the autofluorescence of the bodies natural compounds has implications in developing new cell imaging techniques.
