<25>This paper is a step towards providing deployment arguments for “smart environment” designs. Concerned with providing measures of occupants’ experiences of their environment and demonstrating that a particular design will satisfy certain experience requirements. On-going research is concerned with hospital out-patient environments. International collaboration between CNR-ISTI in Pisa, Edinburgh and Newcastle. Pilot studies at Sheffield Hallamshire hospital and the Royal Free Hospital. Further negotiations are on-going with the Swansea future hospital project at the Morriston Hospital, prior to bid for funding.
