Additional information

This paper establishes a new electrochemical sensor for clinical diagnostics. In collaboration with the University of Leeds, a portable technology that is capable of detecting multiple proteins in a clinical sample with high sensitivity is demonstrated. This research won the technology category of Nanotech Briefs’ Nano 50 Awards, 2008. In addition to societal and academic significance, this research has had economic impact including partnerships with large enterprises (e.g. Hitachi daw61@cam.ac.uk) and Abbott diagnostics (sophie.laurenson@abbott.com). A Yorkshire Forward Concept award and Innovation and Knowledge Centre funding supported a University spin-out in 2011 (eTect) based on this electronic diagnostics platform
