Disability and Information Technology: A Comparative Study in Media Regulation
This book examines to what extent regulatory frameworks for information and communication technologies safeguard the citizenship rights of people with disabilities. It relies on the complex comparative analysis of four jurisdictions (Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, the United States of America) analysed in detail in individual chapters, while the concluding chapter reflects on common challenges and solutions in light of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The research draws on a wealth of resources, including legislation, cases, interviews conducted at organisations representing people with disabilities, consultation documents and responses from organisations representing people with disabilities.
