The paper describes an innovative approach in which process vessel furniture hosts electrodes for electrical resistance tomography. Compared to conventional tomography, employing electrodes around the periphery, the proposed approach enables increased numbers of measurements to inform the image reconstruction and is potentially of most interest in the central regions of the vessel. New excitation strategies are employed to efficiently and effectively use the extra information provided. The work was responsible for generating a collaborative project with BNFL related to nuclear fuel processing (contact details available).
