Additional information

A DSP system is described for detecting extremely weak high-frequency magnetic fields transmitted through 2-mm thick steel plate. A field strength of 0.03 mT at the transmitter yielded a flux density on the far side that was 10,000 times weaker than the Earth's magnetic field, but could be identified with the device. This system is now a commercial product (Signal Wizard 2.5, www.signalwizardsystems.com), and has sold widely in many different countries. A research partnership was formed with Pure Technologies Ltd, Canada (contact CEO, www.puretechltd.com), who have incorporated the system in their products as an embedded system.
