This paper adds to the body of work from the authors on extremely wide bandwidth antennas. The paper provides performance enhancement of a previously published antenna type (known as the bunny ear) . This new design was used in a digital beamforming prototype array for radio astronomy (www.skads-eu.org) by a UK consortium comprising the Universities of Manchester, Oxford and Cambridge (contact at Oxford , details available). With the growth in interest in wide band imaging at microwave frequencies the research is likely to be adopted in radar imaging and elsewhere.
