Bioinspired Strong and Highly Porous Glass Scaffolds
This work demonstrates the fabrication of strong bone engineering scaffolds through the 3D printing of bioactive glasses. Bioactive glasses are a very appealing material for tissue engineering and this work opens new possibilities to address the lack of processing technologies able to produce strong glass structures with controlled architectures. The results have been highlighted in the Bulletin of the American Ceramic Society and in invited presentations in an Eulasur workshop organised by the EU (2011) and the Jaques Cartier Symposium (2010) . They supported BioBone a successful European Initial Training Network(~£3M) on Bioceramics with nine academic and industrial partners.
