Dual-resolution molecular dynamics simulation of antimicrobials in biomembranes
This paper provides original evidence supporting a generic mechanism of action for antibacterial agents commonly present in consumer products. Results were presented in an invited seminar at University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (July 2011). The project was mentioned on the BBC news website as an example of the application of state-of-the-art supercomputing resources (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-10851602). The work was funded by Unilever R&D Port Sunlight (M. Noro, Massimo.Noro@unilever.com) and EPSRC (Postdoctoral Research Fellowship EP/G050708/1). The project led to further funding by Unilever (postdoc grant to develop skin lipid models).
