Double-weighted statement

The monograph argues that Sartre’s entire account of the mind, developed across The Transcendence of the Ego, Sketch for a Theory of the Emotions, The Imaginary, and Being and Nothingness, consists in his working out the implications of his view that conscious experience is structured by projects. The generation of this thesis requires detailed interpretations of each of his theories of intentional action, emotion, imagination, self-deception, valuing, and freedom, and for an account of the integration of these theories. In addition, the work engages with the implications of this account for current debates over ethical value and agency.
