Double-weighted statement

This volume is the outcome of a 4-year research project funded by the AHRC and led by Whittle. The project examined the largest sample of human and animal bone for isotopic research so far obtained for a study of this kind. Isotopic analyses were combined with osteological and archaeological investigations, resulting in complex narratives for both individual sites and regions. The monograph is over 600 pages long; Whittle is a named author in all 10 chapters, lead author on two regional chapters and the final discussion chapter, and co-author of the introductory chapter.
