This paper is the first of its kind to compare silent speech interfaces and is authored by the world leading authorities on silent speech, based in France, Germany, Japan, UK and USA. The paper is in the top 20 most downloaded for the journal three years after publication and has received 70 citations. As a result of collaboration on this paper, the authors along with industrial collaborators Alcatel-Lucent (France), Bell Labs (USA), Toby Churchill (UK), Plux (Portugal) and other academic partners cooperated on a Marie Curie Initial Training Network application (total value approx €3M).
