Additional information

The work demonstrates that a proposed wave device geometry can continue to produce power during extremely severe storm conditions. Several research groups have used the findings to validate both research and commercial numerical models for extreme loading and response. The paper has led to Manchesters role as PI on an EPSRC Supergen Marine Challenge project on extreme loading of marine devices. The float design studied has been patent protected. The contributing PhD student is now employed at the commercial hydrodynamic test center IFREMER.
