Additional information

Development of practical microwave-imaging systems to address pressing clinical need for early stage detection of breast cancer requires compact antenna elements with excellent Ultra-Wide-Band (UWB) performance in terms of input and radiation responses. Paper presents, for first time, wide slot antenna for this application and notes its improved performance in every respect compared to existing design. Three years later, wide-slot design is still preferred candidate for UWB imaging radar being commercialised by Micrima Ltd. [contact: CEO and Executive Chairman].
