Additional information

Strength formulae developed and verified in this paper are in the commentary part to the American Society of Civil Engineers’ standard ‘Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) of Pultruded Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Structures’, which will be adopted for design work in the USA, and is like to extend internationally as there is no equivalent elsewhere. The author is the lead writer of the mandatory clauses and commentary text in Chapter 8 for bolted connections. The Chair of the ASCE/SIE Fiber Composites and Polymers Standard Committee is Professor Max Porter of Iowa State University (mporter@iastate.edu).
