Preparation and characterization of porous Bioglass® and PLLA scaffolds for tissue engineering applications
This original research signifies advancement of fabrication strategies combining two separate novel techniques, developed for the first time by the authors, to produce highly optimised bioglass and biopolymer scaffolds for hard and soft tissue augmentation. The research impacts significantly on cell mediated scaffolds for bone tissue engineering applications as bone filler, coated implantable devices for hip and knee and collagen infiltrated flexible structures where strength requirement is less demanding (UHCW NHS Trust – consultant surgeon Damian.Griffin@warwick.ac.uk). Led to 3 invited lectures with considerable scholarly impact at an international level: MS&T10 (USA), BIO2011 (India), UCL (UK).
