This work resulted in an EPSRC project “Increasing the Observability of Electrical Distribution Systems using Smart Meters” (EP/J00944X/1, 2012-14). The results were presented through invited talks in UK Smart Grid Symposium and IEEE ISGT Conference in 2011, and were included in the report of the Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE) Working Group C6.21 (international WG on smart metering) in 2013. It has led to 2 PhD studentships: one fully funded by Cardiff (2012-15) and one funded by the Iraq Government (2012-15). This work was developed in a Low Carbon Network Fund project bid in collaboration with Toshiba Europe (Mahesh@toshiba-trel.com).
