This paper proposes fundamentally new algorithms for the QR decomposition and singular value decomposition of polynomial matrices with application to MIMO digital communication channels. These are of great interest for next generation wireless communication systems - expected to spawn a multi-billion market worldwide. These novel algorithms further extend the author's own polynomial matrix factorisation ideas and constituted an important element of our successful bid for the £4.5M EPSRC funded project EP/K014307/1 (part of the Dstl University Defence Research Collaboration).
