This paper describes a novel technique for designing and building optical resonators using plasmons - in effect a small plasmonic interferometer. It has inspired work on nano optical resonators which we are developing into nano-scale optical sensors and ultrasonic transducers as part of a £1.5M grant on nano -ultrasonics from EPSRC (EP/K021877/1).
