English abstract
The article focuses on non-conformity in the city of Piacenza (Italy) during the late Middle Ages, highlighting the connections between city elites and support to the anti-papal front, the intercity links with other neighbouring centres of the Po Valley, and the impact of non-conformism upon the religious life of placentines. It contributes a new understanding of the role of bishops and podesta` in the fight against non-conformity. The inextricable link between politics and religious feelings are seen as a unicum, and as the fullest expression of medieval mindset.
