This paper describes a novel approach to the in-vitro analysis of cell metabolism. The technique coupled simplified, non-contact measurement with efficient data analysis technique to provide excellent correlation between analysis results and cellular anatomy. This new feature extraction technique resulted in a very successful interdisciplinary collaboration with Depuy Ltd, including a TSB grant (AG147H). This research led to invited seminars at the Joint Research Centre, Ispra, Italy and Hackensack University Medical Center, US.
