Delivered through a prestigious Wellcome/EPSRC medical Engineering Centre utilising a novel wear simulator for assessing wear in spinal disc replacements (SDR); exceeds ISO/ASTM standards. Based on an invited presentation at Spine Arthroplasty Society (2009). Research led to RMH accepting an invitation to Chair the BSI CH150 subcommittee – Spinal Devices and Osteosyntheses with a view to leading the UK’s contribution to the development of ISO standards in this area. Contributed to a Invited book Chapter (Comprehensive Biomaterials: Article 00212, 2011).
