Additional information

A tribological simulation of the medial compartment natural knee and the first definition of relationships between contact stress, frictional shear stress and wear. Presented as part of a keynote plenary lecture at World Tribology Congress in Kyoto 2009 “Tribology for Life”. Research has led to the award of EPSRC programme grant in Tribology of Cartilage and Cartilage Substitution £5M 2009-14 EPSRC EPG 01121721. The simulation method has now been developed for the full natural knee and new simulation equipment developed and commercialised in partnership with Simulation Solutions (contact nick.eldred@simsol.co.uk).
